It has been a year since Suki has been outside without being held.

The first time we tried the harness, she freaked out so badly that I felt awful and didn't want to try again. Not that I could have anyway, she wouldn't let you get NEAR her with it.

But Thursday, she was jumping at the dragonflies through the window (over and over ) so Curly Girl tried it again. With success! They stayed outside 30 minutes....until she started getting restless.

First she just lay down and closed her eyes.....

then she rolled and rolled and rolled....

then she wandered around a bit, eating grass and looking for lizards...

She cried and cried when we brought her back in. A part of me felt SO guilty about turning a feral kitty into a house cat.

But...we also know that she is happy, healthy... and loves us as much as we do her! (yes, even Leo loves her unless he catches her on my bed!)

I remember how hard we laughed when Curly Girl came out of her room like this:

It was taken a few years ago when we were still in Edmond, OK. She was playing by herself and just came out like this.....all hunched over, with her 'cane'.....she even talked like a little old man!

Thank you God for silly girls!

May's Toy Drop

We dropped this little turtle at our local library! The librarians do NOT like you to do that so we had to go in and out quickly.

We put it on a low book shelf in the children's section. I have no doubt it will be found soon!

I used THIS pattern....but I did not use her pattern for the legs as I wanted mine to look like a sea turtle's flippers. I didn't jot down what I did...sorry!

Open house

Every now and then, Rip stick Boy has a school function he ACTUALLY wants us to attend. Last night proved to be one of those times.

Here are a few photos from his 8th grade open house

I didn't post everything...just too much, but here are a few neat ones.....

Here is one thing the class did:

check out how they represented the elements, with wire and seed beads....pretty crafty, huh!

here he is showing some of his handy work to Dean and Curly Girl...

and another section.....

check out these cool masks all around the library.......

Polka dotted pretties!

I was in Shawnee's latest apron swap, Polka Dotted Pretties!

Here is what I sent my partner. She is such fun and adores sea turtles as much as I do!

I couldn't resist making her this apron....even the shells and buttons have polka dots on them. I thought the trim looked polka dotty too...

I included a crocheted sea turtle pincushion. I liked him so much! I made another one just like him for my next toy drop.

and here is the other 'stuff'....most of which fit into the cute polka dotted container I found.

Birds!

I assigned songbirds as April's YOE theme.

Here are the two ornaments I created for my partner...she loves paper crafting so I incorporated that into them.

and

Here is the other stuff I sent....I kept with a few things from her list...pattern, lemon drops, etc. I did include a large piece of a lovely hand embroidered vintage table cloth.

On to the activity.....What do you get when you mix dryer lint, shiny shred, bright feathers, eyelash yarn and an onion bag?

Nesting materials for the birds of course!

Just fling it up into the tree and see what happens!

Happy Saturday!
