mermaids.....

In May, the YOE theme was mermaids. I already posted what I sent and received for the actual swap but here are two ornaments I made and kept.

Here is the first one I made.
I used an image of a
Ziegfeld girl and then cut her out, adding hair and other elements.
I love turtles and thought her hands looked like she could be swimming with one....so added that.

I was so excited with the results and then botched it with the glitter! I couldn't throw her away after all that work so kept her for myself.

Anyway, she went from this:

to this:

using paper was a pain so I'm glad that particular challenge is over!

Seeing double.....

I hosted an apron swap using Pin up girl fabric.....I sent my secret partner this.

But look at the cute aprons my partner sent to me!
She totally spoiled me by making me TWO aprons. I love them BOTH!

Now...

and later...
She also sent me some wonderful goodies....cute cocktail napkins, some recipes, a cute beaded saying and Yahtzee. I think it is one of the only games we've not tried...can't wait to do so.

Thank you Tammy!

Mosaic Monday

Last week I was busy making this:

which Leo used as a throne for several days...

and as a stalking post!

I used broken Fiesta ware plates, flat sided marbles and 1 large set of Mardi Gras beads to make it.

After making any mosaic, I always think of things I could have done differently. I was tempted to make the entire thing out of just the turquoise color. I wish I had...but I'm still happy with it.

Here is a close up of the bowl and spiral...

Oh, and see that cute little turtle? Got it for a buck at Hobby Lobby on clearance.

Here it is in the yard...sorry for the hazy photo but we've had tons of rain...with more on the way.

Craft hope for critters...

Anyone interested in helping out with craft hope's latest project? We could really use your help! Click HERE to read an article regarding the spill.

Click HERE for the link to find out information about the project and the send to address. Deadline is July 3rd.

We are making small towels to donate to help clean up sea birds and other animals rescued from the BP oil spill here in Louisiana.
Some people are crocheting and knitting these towels but since they must be disposed of after only a few uses, many are simply cutting up old t shirts...surely you've all got a few t-shirts handy, right?

Pin ups for Hot Mamas....

I hosted another apron swap and got Ann. She hosts singing parties with x box! After getting the fabric, I thought it was very 'graphic novel' looking.

I loved all the little sayings and girls on it so I decided to to something different. I really love how it turned out.

here are some close ups....click on the photo to see the detail.

the pocket says "I wear glamor or nothing at all."

These two look up to no good....

such devilish darlings!

Hope she likes it....

Mosaic Monday

I didn't think I would be able to meet May's YOE challenge with all the "end-of-the-school-year" happenings but managed to do so.

Here is the bird bath I made:

and a close up of the sun:

The sun is made from an Ann Frantic piece that my sister gave to Curly Girl. It fell off her dresser years ago and broke so I put it with my mosaic supplies. When I showed CG the finished bird bath, she was thrilled!

...As for the ladybug, I put one in all my mosaics :-)
