Dean and I decided to take these two kids blueberry picking last weekend
but they opted out..... They whined....it is too hot! It is too humid!
So Dean and I went alone. It WAS hot and humid but two hours later, we came home with TWENTY THREE POUNDS OF BLUEBERRIES!
Yes....no typo there... 23 POUNDS! Want to see what that looks like in the sink?
So while Matt was stuffing his face with fresh berries
I got to cooking and freezing....and it took all day. Seriously. It took forever to process that many berries!
I made blueberry bog and Dean made frozen blueberry yogurt. Then I tried an easy blueberry jam recipe and made 3 jars of lovely blueberry jam...it is delicious! I'd never made blueberry jam before but I have to make more. It was so simple...blueberries, sugar, lemon juice and water. It turned into something fabulous!
Ok, so 23 pounds sounds like a ton of blueberries, but I seriously want to go back. It takes a ton of blueberries to make anything, especially jam.... and I want to make enough for a dozen jars and still have enough for snacking and baking and smoothies and...and...and....
Apparently, we are blueberry obsessed in this house!

I'm so jealous! I've been wanting to go pick blueberries and blackberries all week. Everything sounds so good. I haven't made blueberry jam before, but I might try.
Would love to have your recipe for blueberry jam. The last few years, mine has turned out like sweet blueberry syrup. Thanks
Debi
Yummy .... goodness, that is a lot of blueberries to process!!!
I second the request for your blueberry jam recipe ... the last one I made was not so good.
And blueberry bog it has to be for snack tomorrow :-)

I didn't know there was any place around there to go blueberry picking. Certainly never heard of it when we lived there. I have family in Michigan -- lots of blueberry farms there. Sounds like you had a great day of using up all those blueberries. Fun! Blessings, Tammy
That is a whole lot of blueberries. How in the world did you pick 23 lbs. of blueberries in two hours? That is amazing all in itself. I love how you just got down to business and now you have so many different blueberry things.
