Golf anyone?

Ripstick Boy is enjoying golf again this summer. He gets to play with Dean during the school year but not as much as we'd like.

In the summer, he plays once a week at the club and then a couple times a month with Dean...sometimes more.

ssshh....he doesn't know I'm here taking pictures of him...

here he is setting it up...

and then hitting it .....

and watching to see where it goes.....

here he is on another day......he CAUGHT me! HAHAHA!

Notice those purple and gold covers? Oh yeah, TIGERS BABY!

Have fun sweetie!

A year later.........

Last year, we did another little DIY project.
This time we put a teeny pergola over a weird space between the house and the driveway.
The space was uneven and had nothing in it...just dirt and weeds.
It wasn't wide enough to really 'do' anything with but it was wide enough to look awful.

The two windows were also getting bombarded by the basketball whenever it rebounded!

Here is what it looked like:

Here it is the first day we made it and planted it out.
We originally planned on placing the support beams on the outside of the windows but the trellis would have cut out all the light in that particular room.

There is a little edging to hold the mulch in until the ardesia takes root....and takes over.

And here it is just a year later

and in bloom...

Notice, that the little edging is gone.....not needed at all because the ardesia has filled in the area.
The rose canes are slowly crawling across the top. As we'd hoped, the wooden support beams deflect the basketballs so they don't hit the windows much anymore...just once in a while.

The rose is a climbing fairy. It is one of my favorite roses.
We also intermixed some Morning Glories and scarlet runner.
They all look very pretty mingling together.

FYI ardesia is a tough ground cover. It grows fast, takes a beating from the kids and is heat tolerant.

Technical Difficulties

I've been doing lots of stuff...fun stuff....stuff I'd love to share with you.
Share with you by posting pictures...
I've been taking LOTS of photos so I can show you the stuff I've been doing and seeing...

But I can't show you, so I'm not posting.
I can't show you because my sweet son jacked up my USB cable to the camera.
It was an honest mistake. I mean ALL these little cables look alike, right?

So he gently inserted (I DID NOT CRAM IT!) my camera cable into his Nintendo DS.
When he realized it wasn't fitting right, he pulled it out.
And all the little wires came out the end. But he didn't tell us because he 'fixed it.'

Riiiiiiight.

So once I get a new cable, I'll be able to post some neat stuff.

Unless.

Unless in my haste to put the cable into my CAMERA I messed the camera port up.

Yeah.

So now I'm procrastinating because if I go to the store and buy the USB cable for the camera and it doesn't work I will be SO TICKED OFF.

*sigh* I need a cheater margariter and its only 10 am.

Rain.........

Yesterday the rain began....and stayed....finally. It is supposed to last 3 days. I hope it lasts a week. We REALLY need it.
All the little ponds are practically dried up. We had a brief rainstorm last Thursday and it didn't make a dent.

So everyone here is happy about the rain. The birds are out in it and the flowers are holding little fat droplets. Inside, we are enjoying listening to it and being a bit land locked while
watching old movies, baking yummy things to eat, reading good books and playing with the pooches...even sneaking in a nap.

Bring on the RAIN!

Crappy Crafters Paradise!

The other day I was blog surfing.
I don't know HOW I did it but I ended up HERE.
I fell out of my chair over THIS POST .
I was so relieved to see someone else has crafty failures! Like THIS ONE.
And they are SO FUNNY!
Quite frankly, I never really thought about how FUNNY it would be to blog about crafty failures.

So.......if you all need a good look at some crafting attempts gone WRONG please visit them. ALL of them are funny....check out these cupcakes! HA!
I giggled, I laughed, I even ho-hoed (yes, I do...I'm an original.)

Anyway, if you need a good laugh, I strongly recommend this site. In today's economy, consider it cheap entertainment!
Plus, it will make you feel good to know that sometimes everyone's craft can go "craptastically" wrong.
