Pumpkin carving contest

Each year we have a family pumpkin carving contest with the kids.

When we first started, it took forever. We would use the templates you get from the store and help the kids pick theirs out. We've long since ditched the templates. Some of us draw a design on, some of us just wing it as we go.
Something that used to take half a day now just takes a couple of hours...start to finish!

Everyone is secretive about what they are making (especially Dean!)

the rest of us aren't nearly as competitive!



Leo jumped the fence when he heard us out front and came to hang out with us. He is so much happier now....


These pumpkin seeds are already toasted. Kaela is taking some to one of her teachers.

    They're all great .... you guys are all so creative .... it's hard sometimes to work out what the pumpkins in our house are meant to be!!!
    My favorite is Jack from nightmare before Christmas ... his little face is very cute.

    Great pumpkins everyone! The details on Frankie are great, and I always love a black cat but I think I will put my vote towards the toothsome jack. Some days I just love the simple things :)

    I'm torn between Frankie and the cat...hmmm...what to do? I think I'm leaning towards Frankie. Yep, Frankie gets my vote! But they are all awesome, and way better than I could do! Great job, everyone!

    Hey Val, all the pumpkin carvings are fantastic. We only managed to do it once and I must say, it was a bit tricky. I would think that Frankie would have been a bit difficult with all that detail so would have to go with that one. Of course, you know for sure I am not entering your wonderful giveaway -- still keeping fingers and toes crossed for your package. It really is so very pathetic that it hasn't gotten to me yet.
