Daddy

Daddy died June 8th.  He was a good, kind man who loved music, nature, good food and life.

It took me awhile to post this.  It is funny, the things we avoid while grieving.  Writing these simple words are really a bit too much right now but I felt the need to honor him with just a note today....more later.  At 88 years old, he had enjoyed a full life...but letting go is always hardest for those left behind.

He was Daddy, Dad, Father, Papa and then Big Papa to us as we grew up and as our families grew.  But to me he has always been Daddy.

You are missed.

  1. Val- I started crying when you told me he wasn't going to get well. Katie and I were at the mall in the food court and my heart was aching for you, dear friend. I know your Dad was absolutely wonderful on every level as he raised the caring and lovely woman that I'm so blessed to be able to call my friend. I'm sending prayers and hugs to you and your while family, Sweetie. Love you.... Lori

  2. Oh, I'm so sorry, Val. And yes, even though he lived a long, full life, it is still hard to have to say goodbye - you're never quite ready. Hugs, my sweet friend.

  14. Dearest Val,
Just landed here from Tammy's blog and I got right away drawn to your Dad's photo...
So sorry for this big loss! But as we grieve, we seem to sort out the fond memories which will remain with us forever. You now have another Angel you can call by name...
    Hugs,
    Mariette
